ABOUT STUDIO LOUISE

Having worked 17 years in the children's fashion industry I've always had a passion for fabrics and colour. During this time I've expanded my knowledge with courses in dress making and pattern cutting.

I took a career break in in due to the growing demands of my two daughters, a change in priorities, and perhaps, an subconscious yearning for a more simple life.

One chance conversation, just before Christmas, brought to mind my Grandmother's nursing chair. It's been my intent, for years to recover it and breathe new life into a beautiful piece of furniture close to my heart. I now had the space to act upon this yearning and I enrolled in a course starting the following January (and got the last spot incidentally!).

Upon starting, I was immediately hooked. I'd been ambitious, the chair had buttoning, to name but one new skill to learn and implement but I didn't feel intimidated, rather the opposite, I felt my inner fire relight which had been lacking inspiration in recent times and my next adventure had well and truly begun...

The start of each project comes with is own excitement. The mapping out of what is required and what will be discovered in the stripping down of the the piece, or the imagining of the new 'creation', what should the look be, how to create the perfect fit. What I love is that each one is different, always. Before the job is started a lot of thought and consideration has been applied to each stage. Once I commit and commence,  there is a deep degree of absorption. The combination of skills,  provides an immense satisfaction, for Studio Louise, regardless of the size of job.
